Diamond in the Pines Park

The huge playset complex at Diamond in the Pines park in Coram is a great example of a modern jungle gym set on a new, manicured park. While primarily used for sporting events at the top-notch football and baseball fields, the playground is worth a visit in and of itself.

These free-standing climbing walls can accommodate small and big climbers, and the whole set is marked by different pavilions like the one in the background. Most have built-in games or other activities.
Stepping stones and the inclined ladder are good examples of how the playset can engage children of different skill levels. This pavilion features both a covered slide and a corkscrew. The play surface is a soft composite, and there are many shaded areas on the set. There are many benches surrounding the area.

Elements like the music board above abound throughout the playset. Every nook features built-in games and creative play boards like tic-tac-toe, race spinners, and steering wheels. Kids are rewarded for exploring all the different areas.

This big slide complex lies at the far end from the entrance. There is a pavilion that hosts concerts in the summer time, as well as the aforementioned playing fields. There are public restrooms and a lot of very convenient parking. If you've driven past the area on North Ocean Avenue, you've certainly seen it but may not have seen how to get in. The entrance is actually on route 112 north of route 83. When it's time to leave, making a left out of the park can be a challenge, but there is a large shopping center just a few hundred yards to the right where you can turn around.
