The weekend Planner, October 24th

It's the all-Halloween edition of the weekend planner, as we count down the final days until October 31st. There's plenty of fun and scares to be had on Long Island over the next two days, and you may even find yourself with some extra candy.

The Nassau County Museum of Art started their Twilight Pumpkin Spectacular yesterday and it runs all weekend. Be sure to check out their site, as it is highly recommended that tickets be purchased in advance. At the nearby Museum Mile, the Cradle of Aviation is hosting their Spooky Hangars nighttime tours while the Long Island Children's Museum is hosting their Ghostly Gala.

At the Sweetbriar Nature Center, they're hosting a spooky walk on Friday and Saturday evening. Admission is $5, and visitors can walk the nature trails in the dark. If daytime haunts are more your speed, Old Bethpage Village Restoration is hosting an 1880's Halloween celebration all weekend.

Further east, The West Bank Marina presents the Haunted Pirates Cove in Patchogue. This is a daytime event on both Saturday and Sunday, while Saturday night brings one of Long Island's stranger customs, the Halloween Boat Burning at the West Sayville Maritime Museum. Also on Saturday morning is the Halloween Walkabout in Hampton Bays, where kids can wear their costumes and trick-or-treat in town.
