The Weekend Planner, February 20th

As the last week in February reminds us that winter still has some cold days left, here are some of the indoor shows where kids can find both warmth and fun.

The Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington presents Gustafer Yellowgold on Saturday at noon. The "Mellow Yellow" show is a multimedia combination of live music and images projected on a screen. Tickets are $12.00.

The Show Place in Bellmore is staging a production of "Charlotte's Web" on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Tickets are $10 and include popcorn and soda.

The BayWay Arts Center in East Islip brings "The Wizard of Oz" to life with stage productions on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Tickets are $10, $22 when you choose to attend a special tea party with the characters after the show.

"Cinderella Goes Disco" has its final performance at the Carriage House Theater at the Vanderbilt Museum this Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.00. A second production is being staged at the Arena Players Second Stage in East Farmingdale on Saturday and wraps on Sunday, both at 1:00 p.m. Tickets are also $10.00 at Second Stage.

The BroadHollow Theatre Company in Lindenhurst is presenting "Jack and the Beanstalk" on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $8.00 and the show runs through March 14th. At the Elmont Library, they are staging a production of "Sleeping Beauty" at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.00

For those kids who can handle a later start time, the Airport Playhouse in Bohemia has an 8:00 p.m. curtain for their production of "The Secret Garden." The Sunday show is at 2:30 p.m. Tickets range from $14.00 to $22.00.

For a more hands-on experience, the Long Island Children's Museum has a special exhibit called "Contraptions A to Z." Kids can experiment with gadgets ranging from the Antique Apple Peeler to the Zebras Zooming Zanily Zoetrope. Out at the Long Island Science Center in Riverhead, it's Games Week. Kids can learn some of the theory behind games, play some classics, and make their own games to take home.
